Job Description

**Responsibilities** In keeping with the Dignity Health healthcare philosophy, the Ultrasound Technologist performs cardiovascular procedures at a technically proficient level. Positions and instructs the patient, operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking/labeling of images, provide and confirm proper/adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis. Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures. Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement. Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease. **Qualifications** + Familiar with PAC's systems including Xcellera. and Cerner preferred. + Demonstrates knowledge in both general and cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. + Must have working knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures. + Must also know departmental protocols and procedures. + Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians and the patient population. + Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. + Self-motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills. + Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team-oriented environment. + Current registered or registry eligible (i.e. RDCS and/or RVT), ECE to maintain certification, current BLS CPR card. **Overview** French Hospital Medical Center, located in San Luis Obispo, California, has been named one of the Nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics and is rated among the top hospitals in the nation for cardiac, orthopedic, and GI services.
