Position: K–8 Music Teacher
Type: Full-Time, Annual Appointment
Location: Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, Malden, MA
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in music education, a passion for teaching. This role emphasizes cultivating musical skills, encouraging artistic expression, and preparing students for performance opportunities through engaging, skill-based instruction.
Design and implement engaging, goal-driven lessons that promote creativity and musical growth
Regularly assess and document student progress; provide timely feedback through report cards and progress reports
Foster a structured, positive learning environment by consistently applying MVRCS’s assertive discipline model
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and department planning sessions
Support and lead school-wide musical events, concerts, and performances
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director
Experience teaching music and/or conducting string ensembles
Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners across multiple grade levels
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Commitment to inspiring student engagement, creativity, and performance readiness
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze student performance and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
Collaborative mindset and a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Knowledge of state and federal education laws and school policiest
This is a full-time position with a yearly contract, subject to annual performance evaluation.
