Job Title: Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic	Department: Transportation
Location: Turlock	Full/Part-Time: Full-Time
Regular/Temporary: Regular	FLSA Status: Hourly (non-exempt)
Shift: Day	Pay Range: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment assigned to the transportation department to include equipment at various company locations.  This position will be responsible for minimizing downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
• Minimize downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Other duties and/or special projects as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

• Diesel engines, hydraulics, power transmissions and pneumatics
• Multiple types of equipment

Ability to:

• Troubleshoot and make on-the-spot corrections to emergency conditions
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with all co-workers and staff
• Work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment

Experience and Training Guidelines:

• At least two (2) years’ experience in an industrial or production environment
• Good computer skills
• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Good analytical skills
• Detail-oriented and thorough; self-starter
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record

Physical and mental requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing
• Frequent lifting and or moving up to 55 pounds
• Constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up work

Working conditions

• Work is performed based on a 24/6 operation schedule with multiple site locations
• Work is performed in outside weather conditions
• Varied work schedule, including overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
• Work at high elevations and in confined spaces
• Some travel may be require
