Controls Designer – AutoCAD Electrical
Contract-to-Hire | Blaine, MN | $35–$45/hour
We are seeking a Controls Designer with strong AutoCAD Electrical skills to join our engineering team. In this role, you will create detailed electrical design packages for industrial automation and control systems. This is a contract-to-hire position with competitive pay and long-term growth potential.
Responsibilities:
Create and update electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical
Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure documentation accuracy
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and panel builders to meet project specifications
Interpret customer requirements and integrate them into designs
Ensure compliance with NEC, UL, and NFPA 79 standards
Support panel fabrication, assembly, and commissioning processes
Maintain organized project files and revision control
Qualifications:
3+ years in controls or electrical design
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, relays, and industrial automation components
Familiarity with NEC, UL, and NFPA standards
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
High attention to detail and organizational skills
