SUMMARY:Menstruation is a natural sign of health
DESCRIPTION:Menstruation is a natural sign of health\, not an ‘incident’ to be shamed!! 🌸 \nMost of the girls in India are unable to play or rather leave their house during their menstruation. Lack of knowledge\, awareness and support of their parents lead to school misses\, mostly one week a month. It was not only affecting girls’ education but also their future opportunities. \nMenstruation and menstrual practices still face many social\, cultural\, and religious restrictions which are a big barrier in the path of menstrual hygiene management. In many parts of the country girls are not prepared and aware about menstruation so they face many difficulties and challenges at home\, schools\, and work places. Due to cultural norms and stigmas\, menstruating women are not allowed to use water and sanitation facilities and in some\ncases even excluded from home as menstruation is considered impure. \nTo go about this issue and empower girls enough to do everything as if the challenge of Menstruation wouldn’t exist. An another Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session was organised by the team G3S Foundation in Collaboration with AGAPE Blessed Foundation in the community of Shahbad Dairy with the under 18 adolescent girls and women yesterday. Where the participants first have disseminated about the basics of periods and the scientific resion behind this then after the hygienic practice during menstruation was discussed among them and an effort was made to break the taboos related to menstruation. We have urged and Motivated them to discuss on the issue with their teachers\, mothers\, daughters also with sons and brother because there is nothing to be shamed about.\nEach girl and woman was provided with a sanitary pad and refreshment as well. \nWe would like to thank Ms. Garima Bhardwaj for conducting the session positively also Mr. Rakesh Sir (MO\, GB Panth Hospital) to be there to answer the queries of the participants. Thanks Tanya from United Religions Initiative-North India to be there with us and guid us. We would like to acknowledge with gratitude the collaboration and support extended by the team AGAPE and Serve Smile. Last\, but not the least\, we wish to express our sincere thanks to all our colleagues and friends who have been a source of encouragement and immense support.

SUMMARY:Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session
DESCRIPTION:#MenstrualHygieneAwarenessSession\nIf girls and women are to live healthy and productive lives\, with dignity\, menstrual hygiene must be given a priority. In many areas\, there is complete neglect of menstrual hygiene due to low awareness levels and lack of access to sanitary products.\nUnder the umbrella of G3S Foundation\, team have choosen another slum in the corner of Delhi which is situated at the nearest of Samaypur Badli Metro Station. We found that menstruation and menstrual practices are clouded by taboos and socio-cultural restrictions for women as well as adolescent girls in that slum. Limited access to products for sanitary hygiene\, and lack of safe sanitary facilities could prove to be barriers to increased mobility and the likelihood of resorting to unhygienic practices to manage menstruation. Most of the woman use old clothes as pads by recycling them\, and use of ash\, which offers no protection\, and endangering menstrual hygiene with long term implications for reproductive health. \nIn order to tackle the problem team have organised it’s another Menstruation Hygiene Awareness Session among the women of that slum. They have been briefed in detail about Menstruation Hygiene Management and about the Periods. Team influenced them to use Sanitary Pads rather than using clothes which is unhygienic in use. \nFamilies are not enough capable to buy pads each month not only for them but also for their young daughter or we can say that families prefer to spend that money in some of their other necessary works. Team had distributed Sanitary Pads among the families and assured them that we will keep delivering them the pads till we can. \nLast month we had urged the people to come forward to pledge for one Sanitary Pad for a month and we we are happy to share that many people came forward and helped by either donating the pads or the amount. It is not possible to mention the each name here but some of them were Ma’am Shelly\,bJyoti\, Vishala\, Garima\, Tannu\, Indu\, Jyoti\, Payal\, Poonam\, Sir Vipin\, Shivam\, Trun\, Pawan. We would like to thank each of you for your valuable support\, this was not possible without you all. Also we would to thank each volunteers to make this session successful. \n#MHM #MenstrualHygiene #PositivePeriods #NoMoreShame #LeaveShameLiveSame #breakthetaboo #G3S #G3SFoundation #URI #Delhi United Religions Initiative-North India and Afghanistan

SUMMARY:Child Rights
DESCRIPTION:In India\, child rights\, protection of children from abuse and exploitation are intimately linked to poor socioeconomic conditions. The question arise here that whose responsibility is it to ensure the safe\, protective and caring environment that every child deserve? Individuals especially the family can play a vital role in ensuring and protecting the rights of the children and preventing them from any kind of abuse hence there is a great need to make the parents of the children and children themselves aware about the child rights and different kind of child abuse.\nIn light of the above G3S Foundation in association with other organisations organised a day training program on “Protection of Children from Abuse: Role of Parents & Other Stakeholders” at Bhagwanpura\, Samaypur\, Delhi on dated April 4\, 2021. The training program was attended by around 80 people including children\, adolescent girls and their parents as well. The training was aimed at creating awareness and educating parents of the children and children themselves about various child rights and child abuse and the role of parents and other concerned authorities. The training was facilitated by the students of University of Delhi\, Chandigarh University\, Indira Gandhi National Open University and Staff of Prayas JAC Society.\nThe training was divided up into sequential sessions to enable an easy flow of topics. Topics like Safe touch Unsafe touch\, child abuse\, child rights\, role of parents\, role of Childline India Foundation \, CWC and Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights were broadly discussed discussed.\nThe facilitators adopted a participatory approach that ensures that all participants were actively involved in delivering the sessions. Visual aids were used and live experiences were given as example during the program and this made it easy for the participants relate what they were learning to what is happing in their community.\nFeedbacks were also taken at the last of the session\, parents \n(Note: All the precautions and norms were followed during the session. Participants were provided with fresh masks and temperature was checked before the entry.)
